MovieLink: RaptorForce
Nature Debut: Sunday, February 18th (check for local dates/times - they may differ).
Don't miss RaptorForce, a movie filmed by Neil Rettig, that looks at what makes falcons, hawks, eagles and owls such elite predators and how their complex anatomy influences military aircraft design. The movie includes outstanding footage of peregrine falcons, eagles, owls, hawks, and Cal the Harpy Eagle - including unique footage shot from a wearable camera mounted on one of the birds.
Look up your local schedule - you don't want to miss this movie!

Neil has a new blog up! Read about his adventures filming
western lowland gorillas in Gabon, and the 'RaptorCam' project.
He is also working to make a full-length feature film of
Kenney Salwey, the last river rat! We are very excited about
this, especially since the documentary is not yet available
for release. Keep checking back for more information and
updates.

I've had a number of people email me about a new 'River
Rat' book. Last night, while searching amazon.com, I found
it. It looks like Kenny Salwey's Tales of a River Rat:
Adventures Along The Wild Mississippi was just released by Voyageur
Press. Here's the Amazon.com
link, although it looks the the book is pretty widely
available.

'The Last River Rat' was honored with two more awards: The
Royal
Television Society's Lighting and Photography award
in the documentary category, and the Grierson
Documentary award. We are very excited - this is the
first time that a natural history film has won a documentary
award from the Royal Television Society.
The film is not yet available (we hope that BBC decides
to release it), but you can purchase "The
Making of the Movie 'The Last River Rat'". We have also
had several requests for Kenny Salwey's book 'The Last River
Rat: Kenny Salwey's Life In The Wild'. The book can easily
be purchased online through amazon.com.
